Brown planning Massive Cost Cuts
June 12th 2009 21:49
Prime Minister Gordon Brown has declared he will slash spending across the whole of the Government next year.
The cuts are expected to be:
Defence £3bn
Transport £1bn
Communities £1bn
Justice £870m
Business £800m
Climate £500m
A Treasury minister, Liam Byrne, has admitted capital spending will be halved by the Labour Government. Alistair Darling, the Chancellor, has said ...er...nothing.
So, Defence to be cut as our troops are serving in Afghanistan with outdated equipment.
So, Justice to be cut as the crime rate marches forever upwards and with money needed for new jails.
So, money for Business to be cut while companies are trying to claw their way back to an even keel.
So, money set aside for climate change to be reduced after the people have been hounded and brainwashed for the past decade about the need to do more to save the planet.
I have some ideas!
Why not slash the pay of under-performing MPs and slashing MPs expenses to a big fat zero?
Why not save more money by getting rid of the unelected House of Lords?
Why not sell off all the 'grace and favour' residences?
Why not rid the country of at least 75% of the red tape which is strangulating emerging small businesses?
Why not get rid off at least 50% of the Civil Service?
It may not seem a lot, but count up all the peripherals such as a drop in the cost of security, public pensions etc and the figures will soon mount up.
There could of course, be more money saved if the number of MPs was halved. Why does a country the size of the UK need twice as many politicians as that of the USA?
